Campaign Statement
As a retired Police Chief, I understand the importance of school safety and creating stronger ties between the School Board and other stakeholders in our Yucaipa-Calimesa community. My training and experience in law enforcement and my years as an Adjunct Professor/Lecturer in Public Administration provides me a unique perspective on how to address current emerging issues. My family has been involved in education for over 38 years. My grandchildren attend Yucaipa schools. I understand the importance of ALL students receiving a high-quality education. I have experienced first-hand the significance of making sure that every school has what is needed to meet the needs of our community. My experience as Interim City Manager in creating and maintaining a fiscally sound budget has taught me how important it is to recognize how voter taxpayer money is spent. I have the support of many business leaders, public safety, City Council and School Board Members, and members of our community. As a US Army Veteran, I learned that "Common Sense Leadership" and my adopted philosophy of "We all do better when we work together" play an important role in making decisions that will ensure our students are college and career ready.
